4 But when the kindness and philanthropy of God our Savior appeared,5 he saved us, not of works in righteousness that we did, but according to his mercy through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,6 which he poured out upon us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior.
