3 "Listen; a sower went out to sow,4 and it happened, as he was sowing, that some seed fell beside the road and the birds came and ate it.5 Other seed fell on stony places where it had not much earth, and it sprang up at once because it had no depth of soil,6 but when the sun came up it was scorched and because it had no root it withered away.7 Other seed fell among thorns and the thorns grew up and choked it and it yielded no grain.8 Other seed fell into good ground and grew tall and strong and yielded thirty, sixty, or a hundred fold."9 He said to them, "Let him who has ears to hear with hear."
