And he spake the word to them. And they come to him, bringing a paralytic, borne of four.
And not being able to come nigh him for the croud, they uncovered the roof where he was, and having broken it up, they let down the couch whereon the paralytic lay.
Jesus seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Son, thy sins are forgiven thee.
But certain of the scribes were sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies?
Who can forgive sins, but God only?
And Jesus immediately knowing in his spirit, that they so reasoned in themselves, said to them, Why reason ye thus in your hearts?
Which is easier? To say to the paralytic, Thy sins are forgiven thee?
Or to say, Arise, and take up thy couch and walk? But that ye may know, that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins: (He saith to the paralytic) I say to thee,
Arise, and take up thy couch, and go to thine house.
And immediately he arose, and taking up his couch, went forth before them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, We never saw it thus.
