1 And when they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives,2 then sent Jesus two disciples, Saying to them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her; loose and bring them to me.3 And if any man say ought to you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them: and he will send them immediately.4 This was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,5 saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek and sitting on an ass, even a colt, the fole of an ass.6 And the disciples went and did as Jesus had commanded them,7 And brought the ass and the colt, and put on them their clothes and set him thereon:8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; and others cut down branches from the trees and strewed them in the way.9 And the multitudes that went before and that followed after cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David; blessed in the name of the Lord is he that cometh: Hosanna in the highest.10 And as he came into Jerusalem, all the city was in a commotion, saying, Who is this?11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus, the prophet, from Nazareth of Galilee.
